Arowanas are large, powerful surface-dwelling fish known for their elongated bodies, large scales, and distinctive upward-facing mouths. While they make impressive aquarium fish, proper Arowana care is essential, as they require very large aquariums, excellent filtration, and careful planning for their adult size. When considering Arowana feeding, it's important to provide a balanced diet to support their growth and health. Arowanas are also powerful jumpers, so having a strong, tightly secured lid is absolutely essential; even large specimens can launch themselves from an aquarium. Additionally, it's important to select suitable Arowana tank mates to ensure a harmonious environment.

Arowana care involves providing substantial open swimming space, with the length and width of the tank being particularly crucial. The aquarium should be designed to allow an adult Arowana to turn comfortably and swim freely without constantly encountering the glass. 

When considering Arowana tank mates, it's essential to choose them carefully. Arowanas are predatory fish and may eat smaller fish that fit into their mouths. Therefore, suitable companions are typically large, robust fish that are too big to swallow but not aggressive enough to continually harass the Arowana.
